Growing up as a child along the Florida Gulf Coast, Ashley Miller was exposed to a melting pot of architectural and interior design concepts. From the traditional old south styles to the more unique coastal, Spanish, Mediterranean, modernist, and West Indian looks, Ashley understood at a young age the emotional and visceral effects design has on people and their households. She explains, “My environment gave me strong feelings; if I wasn’t comfortable in a space, I wanted to leave it, as soon as possible.”
Paramount to Ashley's experience was her apparel merchandising, design and production degree she achieved at Auburn University. Her training in this field allowed her to build upon her own personal experiences and to understand the fabric and textural features of interior design. Most importantly, Ashley learned how to combine and accessorize diverse design concepts with the cyclical changes in fashion. Just as they do on the runways of Paris and Milan, trends in interior design repeat themselves over time, cycling in and out of currency while picking up subtle twists each time they return.
Since becoming a professional designer in 2005, Ashley has made customer service a focal point in her practice. Of course, clients ultimately decide whether they’re happy with a design experience, but long before a project ends or installation even begins, distinctive customer service will help put energy and ideas on the right track by creating a comfortable, trusting relationship.
In her free time, Ashley loves to draw. Ashley believes the spatial relationships in visual art are analogous to those in interior design, as are concepts of scale, color, and lines. Her husband, Parker Miller, is an environmental attorney with the Montgomery firm Beasley Allen. Together, they have two Cavalier King Charles spaniels—William and Eddie—who apparently share their taste in Old World furniture. Ashley and Parker enjoy entertaining and tailgating at Auburn football games, as well as attending various outdoor, art and dining events.
